Who am I ? – Who are you ? – Who are we ?
Who am I? – My name is John Singletary. I grew up in North Charleston, I am a business owner, and I am convinced that together you and I can make North Charleston a city where all citizens can receive the opportunity for a better quality of life. I have worked for and contracted for Fortune 500 companies such as Hewlett-Packard, Microsoft, Chick-fil-A, and Nucor. In addition, I have managed budgets in excess of $200 million dollars. I graduated from the Citadel in 1983 with a B.S. Degree in Business Administration and completed my graduate work at Butler University. I served as the past President of the state-wide South Carolina Fatherhood Practitioners Network, as White Oaks Mall Merchants Association President, as the Regional Financial Manager for seven counties in the South Carolina First Steps Program, and as President of several other organizations. I am well equipped with the skill set necessary to lead this city through the 21st Century and guide our city to a higher level of service for its citizens.
Who are you? – You are a proud city comprised of 50% African Americans, 38% Caucasians, 12% Asians, Hispanics, American Indians, and other races. More than any other race, African Americans, in North Charleston, have been denied basic access to the franchise. African Americans, undeniably have received less than their fair share of jobs, contracts, quality education, fundamental fairness, equal protection of the law, and had forced upon them more than their fair share of police brutality and retribution.
You are a voter in North Charleston who, on Nov. 5, 2019, will have the opportunity to make history by electing John Singletary as the new Mayor and bring an end to 20-plus years of mistreatment against citizens, of color, in North Charleston. You will have the opportunity to finally obtain parity and the freedom to pursue life, liberty, and happiness on the same basis as all other Americans in North Charleston.
Who are we? – We are a community of diverse backgrounds and colors who are connected and possess the power to elect the next Mayor of North Charleston. We are the community where African Americans, in 2015, outvoted all other races combined as a direct result of “Team Singletary’s” extraordinary effort to educate the public and show a true picture of North Charleston. African Americans, in North Charleston, have at their fingertips the solution to their challenges in North Charleston. If, and only if, African Americans unify and cast a unilateral vote, will they be able to effectively open the door to economic, social, educational, protective, and judicial freedom.
