  • A recent Public Safety & Justice article by Mike Maciag sited North Charleston as one of the nations worst cities for minority representation on the police force.
  • $21,052,275.00 Fire Dept. Budget (only 23% goes to African Americans and other Minority Workers). North Charleston’s own study says nepotism, cronyism, and regimenting is the cause of the huge disparities within the departments.
  • $18,723,176.00 for the Special Project’s budget with greater than 99% going to white contractors. Ironically, the Director of Special Projects is black.

The primary function is to collect unfair fines for code enforcement tickets, traffic ticket fines, and to help create a 73% African American prison population on Leeds Avenue in order to generate lucrative goods and service contracts which African Americans do not receive.
