North Charleston 2015 Voter Participation Statistics

Blacks 5513 – Whites 4753 – Asians 89 – Hispanics 67
Native Americans 13 – Military 13 – All Others 45

If African Americans were joined by Asians, Hispanics, Native Americans, Military, and other Whites who are not getting a piece of the economic pie, then they could form a syndicate for fairness, achieve victory, and begin to share the prosperity of North Charleston with all of its citizens of every race. Is there any doubt why Unity is necessary in the African American Community? John Singletary, whose team continues to educate the community with a purpose, should be your choice!

Increase in African American voting for 2015

In 2015, African Americans increased their voting strength greater than 100%. The increase was a direct result of having a well qualified candiate who was committed to fairness that would include the African American community. The candidate was also devoted to educating the community with a purpose. The purpose was to be well informed with the facts. The candidate was John Singletary. In just seven short months of campaigning, his team of blacks, whites, and hispanics, from the community, layed a solid foundation for a victory on Nov. 7, 2023.

North Charleston’s demographic make-up, in this graph, gives a clear picture of who has strength in the community. Even though gentrification, questionable annexations, “doughnut holes”, exclusionary zoning, tearing down African American neighborhoods just prior to elections, city owned subdivisions that sell to transplants that are overwhelmingly white, denial of provisional ballots, rezoning black neighborhoods for single family development only, and municipal underbounding have all been used in North Charleston to dilute the black vote. Still the Black community continues to rise. The present administration strategically seeks to dilute the black vote.

North Charleston Jobs 2015

The disparities created by this present administration, regarding job selections between the races, can only be described as acts of racial prejudice. North Charleston’s own diversity study states the most effective way to address regimenting and traditionalism is to obtain a more diverse workforce. Nepotism and cronyism must also be addressed with a more diverse workforce. Parity is the fairest way to institute workforce diversity without prejudice. When one race is allowed to utilize nepotism and cronyism, then they are allowed to maintain the unfair disadvantage through regimenting and traditionalism; therefore, the system cannot and will not change. In North Charleston the average African American earns $24,000.00 per year, while the average White in North Charleston earns $66,000.00 per year. Starting out with a salary 3 times that of your fellow citizen is transferred to vast differences in lifestyles for the two groups.

Every four years in excess of one billion dollars, in total impact, is missing from the African American Community because parity is ignored by the current administration. Simple mathematics show that North Charleston’s African American Churches are missing well over $100 million dollars in tithes every mayoral term when they re-elect the current mayor. $100 million in tithes would not only pay off the mortgage for every African America Church, but would leave millions for social programs to heal the wounds of past Jim Crow laws of fraud, deceit, and racial violence. The staggering under representation of African Americans, in the police department, causes any reader to do some soul searching to find an answer that does not include deliberate racial discrimination. Whether based upon shear numbers or dollar amounts of pay, African Americans in North Charleston are not receiving their fair share except in sanitation, recreation, and zoning where they are being mistreated.

The Special Project’s Budget has in excess of 18 million dollars ($18,000,000.00). African Americans receive less than $180,000.00 even though the department head is an African American. The city refuses to release the exact figures under a FOIA request because they have everything to hide and nothing to gain from the truth. A payout was made to a single individual in the amount of $3,710,029.00 and the city continually refuses to explain the payment. There have been other enormous and ludicrous payments under the mysterious and ever growing Special Projects Budget. Under a system of parity, with John Singletary, African Americans would receive $9 million of the Special Projects Budget, but under the present administration they receive less than two hundred thousand, Amazing!

The inaugural speech of the mayor in 2016 stated that $67 million were spent in city contracts. This is a considerable amount of money. What was not mentioned was that less than $2 million of the whopping $67 million was spent with African Americans who make up 50% of the population. Under a system of parity, African Americans would have received greater than $33 million. The African American community was short changed about $31 million in direct economic impact and a total of $124 million in total economic impact from contracts alone. The total impact includes direct impact, indirect impact and induced impact. The city of North Charleston participated in the National Day of Racial Healing and at the same time strategically planned to take economic advantage of the African American community to the tune of well over $320 million every single year, Wow!

The city’s own diversity study states that the city’s departmental racial make-up does not reflect the city’s population and suggests parity as a remedy for the racial imbalance. Over the past seven years, the city has totally ignored the proper solution to its self perpetuating nepotism, cronyism, and regimenting.
